A design objective often touted in architecture, the link between inside and outside space.  This rebuilt house in rural Switzerland actually gets there, not by big openings alone but through a common palette of colours and materials.

I love the feel of this smart small hotel by Stuttgart architects, Naumann.  Never folksy, but brimming with a big sense of place, and with just enough whimsy.

Some of the pieces work better than others I grant you. (I especially like the wall shelf Prelude # 4). But there is a sweetness about this work by French artist/designers usin-e that lifts my spirits.  And that’s enough.

With the on-off switch doubling as a dimmer control for the new-tech halogen globe, this limited edition shelf light is almost as versatile as it is cute.  The work of designer Andreas Martin-Lof, the mix of materials is lovely.  And with each component part lovingly sourced from the workshops of local Swedish suppliers, the A.M.L Clamp is a piece of home decor with a tail at least as long as its brilliant blue fabric flex.
