English Country goes minimal in Milan.

Impeccable and perfect.  This family home by Dutch architects Rocha Tombal attracted one comment in particular at Dezeen back in September that is truly food for thought.  Essentially the writer loved the house but declared he could never be comfortable living there. The flawless architecture he said would make him feel like ‘a foreign body which destroys the perfectly arranged interiors’.  But, he adds, he’d be very happy to live next door.

I love this kitchen by Olivier Lempereur. So clean and simply planned, and yet so luscious by virtue of its colour and material. The splashback and benchtop – cast in a smooth milk chocolate glaze – look good enough to eat. The ultra white shell of walls and ceilings maintaining the cool. Warm minimalism in the hands of a young Master.



With all the talk of the demise of minimalism in the design press of late, it’s intriguing to see how fresh this London apartment by John Pawson looks, more than 20 years on…
