Cool and soft, Milan.

London designer Mathias Hahn‘s E8 is my kind of table: beautiful, understated, yellow and, to quote the designer, long enough to let you to push all the work stuff to one end when it’s time to eat.

We live in contradictory times…  Houses that want to look like hotels and hotels that feel like coming home – only better.  And ‘La Favorita’ pension in Porto (Portugal), with interiors by French designer Sam Baron, might just be the best example of the genre yet.

I’m sure the owners of this Majorcan villa have TV somewhere in the house, but this room isn’t it.

Shabby chic alla Milanese. This apartment in Lambrate is in one of the most culturally mixed quarters of Milan.   A case of bringing the outside in, by the look of the interiors, and the keeping it real lack of pretension is refreshing.

A bench to rest your shopping and somewhere to hang your hat and umbrella – little comforts that seem to be overlooked more often than not these days.  Not so in this home for an artist in Belgium.

For fans of the fabulous Bouroullec brothers, a visit to their temporary summer exhibition space in Le Corbusier’s Radiant City apartment building would feel like an afternoon among friends…
